Nikki Sheehan's Poetry Challenge
Nikki Sheehan made a visit to our school this year and she shared her book all about Stephen Hawkin with us. She has now set us a great writing challenge!
Watch the video where Nikki sets the writing challenege.
She asks if you have noticed or seen in the news that nature is reclaiming spaces and that there is less polution?
The challenge she has set is to write some poetry about the way the world is being affected at the moment and she give two ways to go about doing the challenge.
Can you use your senses to create a poem?
- What can you hear now that you couldn't hear before?
- Can you see, hear or feel new growth happening around you?
- Have you sensed any animals reclaiming spaces, such as the cats Nikki mentioned?
- Have you heard a rumble or sound that you normally would thouight was made by a machine? Can you imagine what might have made the sound now that there are less cars, trains and planes being used?
Can you create a funny poem?
- Can you imagine what is happening in all of the toy shops, now that no one is there?
- Can you imagine what is happening in the sweet shops that are now closes? Is there someone or something magical eating all of the sweets?
- Maybe some of the animals are having a party, like the seals that Nikki mentioned?
- Coudl there be some new and intersting animals romaing arund the gardens of Buckinham Palace now that no humans are there?
- Is there a 'Shark Party' in the River Thames?
When you have had a go at the challenge, make sure to send them into school so we can share them with the school community!
You could send a photo or email the text.
