ART AND DESIGN AT BRACKENBURY
We are Artists
At Brackenbury Primary School, we aim to inspire children to see themselves as artists who can create to express their ideas, emotions and view on the world. We want children to understand that they can make their own choices to make unique art. Our children are taught to make the most of making mistakes and have opportunties to reflect upon their art work in their sketchbooks. We have a skills based art curriculum which enables children to build their skills in drawing, painting, textiles, collage, printing and sculpture. Children learn about great art from different types of people, times and places in the world to deepen their knowledge and understanding of art. We believe that art supports children’s mindfulness and sense of self. It also supports children to develop an interest, understanding and appreciation of the world around. We have a dedicated art room at Brackenbury Primary School to enable quality art teaching and experiences. We take part in Brighton Festival's Children's Parade each year where the children get to take part in designing and creating our big make sculpture, costumes and props.
