Governor News July 2016

This year we have been through a lot of change within the governing body; we have also been extremely busy in supporting our school in very volatile conditions within the educational sector.

After many years of successfully guiding our school Harry Steer stood down as Chair of Governors, but I was delighted that he wished to remain a co-opted governor. His support and commitment to our school has been enormous over the years and I am struggling to find words to truly describe his contribution; he has proved a very hard act to follow.

Also after many years Tristan Maddocks has decided to leave the governing body. Tristan has filled many roles for the School including Parent Governor, Chair of the resourcing committee and also Vice Chair. In his role as Vice Chair Tristan has provided me with valuable advice and guidance over the past year. His understanding of school finance and financial management has helped the school enormously over the years.

Consultation by LEA will soon be taking place around possible future partnerships, federations and academy status for all schools within Brighton & Hove. As soon as I hear more then I will post information on the school website and also the PTFA Facebook page.

It was lovely to be at the school Summer Fair (I was running the ‘Hook a Duck’ stall), what a great day out (or inside due the rain) it was. Huge thanks go out everybody who helped out, and especially to Sarah and Melanie.

On behalf of the Governors may I wish you all a fantastic Summer break.
