Governors are like a Board of Directors who make decisions about how the school is run.
Every school has a governing body made up of various members of the community.  The Governing body works closely with the Head Teacher and school management, and is part of the school's leadership team, responsible for strategic planning and policy development.  Governors work as a team with employed school leaders to help ensure that the school provides a good education to its pupils.

School Governors have legal duties, powers and responsibilities. They can only act together, not individually.

Associate members are appointed by the governing body to serve on one or more governing body committee. They may also attend full governing body meetings. They are not governors and therefore do not have a vote in governing body decisions, but may be given a vote on decisions made by committees to which they are appointed.

Governors are asked at the onset of each meeting to declare any business interests that may create a conflict of interest.  This is a standing item.   Any interest is noted on pecuniary interest forms held by the School Secretary.  Pecuniary interest and business interest forms are also completed annually and are signed by each Governor annually.  These are held by the Clerk.  Staff are asked to annually complete and sign a business interests form which is also held by the School Secretary.
